ABOUT

"We are explorers.  A Modern day Lewis and Clark.  We do not seek adventure for the heart pounding adrenaline rush, but the richness of experience…and so we explore; people, places, experiences, capturing the emotion of it all throughout the journey.  After all, it is the journey, not the destination that we want remembered."      - James + Schulze

James Christianson and Otto Schulze have spent the past 20 years chasing experiences.  From photographing weddings on the Great Wall of China to quiet nuptials on top of a mountain peak, weddings for celebrities such as the Ralph Lauren family and corporate events far and wide. Each a unique experience, primed for exploration and telling the story of your brand.

This deep love of exploration has brought James and Schulze together to build a team of photographers that make images that matter.  Our experience and expertise recently caught the attention of Sony leading to James + Schulze being named Sony Artisans, an honor bestowed on only a handful of photographers worldwide. Your event, seen through the vision of James + Schulze will allow a richness in imagery, in experience, and in exploration that is truly one-of-a-kind.  The depth of their knowledge can be witnessed in their images and the quality of experience, felt from the moment they first engage with your brand.

JAMES CHRISTIANSON

Raised in the north woods of Washington State with extensive travel under his belt at a young age, James has been an explorer from the start.  His upbringing and time living abroad eventually lead him to live in Micronesia to partake in teaching and personal missionary work.  It’s these human experiences that have had the greatest influence on his images.  Curiosity and a love for meeting people are what drive James to create soulful portraits and photos infused with personality. James currently lives in Colorado with the love of his life and their three boys but can most often be found in an Airstream trailer, exploring this great country when above sea level, and scuba diving when below it.

OTTO SCHULZE

Born and raised in South Africa Otto has traveled the globe in pursuit of the "decisive moment". His caring eye is one with a worldly view. His background working as a documentary photographer is what most influences his photographs. Drawn to dramatic light, Otto creates images that need to be framed and hung. His award winning photographs have been published and exhibited around the globe and he holds the prestigious title of Sony Artisan of Imagery, representing the camera and technology brand in the wedding industry. He lives with his wife and three girls in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies and travels the globe in search of new experiences to share.

ERIK CLAUSEN

Seeing life "in frames", Erik has roamed the world, from North and South America, to Africa and Asia searching...photographing events, looking for imagery and moments that define couples, families and brands.  He is crazy about his wife Destiny and three kids Avery, River, and Roman.

JASON WELLS

A photograph of Jason at age three with his mother, taken by his father, sits prominently in his home today.  An image of the perfect summer day on the beach in California has stayed with him his entire life.  In many ways that one photograph still informs the way Jason makes photographs today; seamlessly joining stories and style. Jason's love for story and adventure has taken him around the world, creating his art in more than 40 different countries.  From his commission to photograph the "Creation of the Bellagio Hotel" in Las Vegas to a year photographing the peoples of Palau, Micronesia, and his insertion into Haiti to document life just a day following the devastating earthquake, Jason's ability to understand the stories that are unfolding in front of him are unsurpassed.
